Fine image. Makes feel me summer. For haiku purists it might contain too much redundance: forest, punkies, woodpecker - everything exists in the forest.
@ Rudi: That I was allowed to create an image makes me happy! BTW: Purists would even discuss "pond" if there is a frog and some water, wouldn't they? ;-)
This does take me right into the forest - here the pileated woodpecker has changed from pecking to a constant drumming and the no-see-ums(our version of punkies) are not yet out...

Nice one Ralf. Good use of the noun Punkies...

Anyway thanks for the summer in my mind!

Yes I can always smell summer here, plus you have such a fantastic, witty sense of humour lol

Nice one. Had to look up the meaning of 'punkies' - but always good to learn a new word from reading a haiku. To me they are 'midges'.
@ Lorraine: some say, I am just kidding ;-)
@ Janice and jem: I loved the idea that punkies could be wannebe-punks as well. And thanks for dropping by, jem!
Best wishes
Ralf
