This is not the day
to think about haiku.
This is the time
to think about
a yellow leaf
which falls and falls.

This is not the day
to think about haiku.
This is the time
to think about
the tree
and its branches.

May day and night come
may you leave or stay.
I am a leaf
which is green
which will be yellow
once.

Once in my life
is now in yours.

I would like to be strong
but my tears are running.

Water to dry plant.
Salt to slack meal.
Now I know
there is a way to you.
And I feel your warm welcome.

It bursts out.
It is the whole inside of me.

It is
me:

a yellow leaf
it is difficult to fall
there

I love this, Ralf...so love this,
do poetic minds have this taste for fall and failure...Khalil Gibran said it categorically...but then, I felt many have this,

and this poem -- it speaks life in all its complexity...yet, in so simple terms,

devika

It touched my heart so much Ralf, it reminded me too of Leo Buscaglia's book about leaves falling in Fall

Gillena Cox hat gesagt…

i notice,
this leaf,
falling;
has not yet
touched down;
might there be,
a sequel
to this poem?

much love

Thank you all.

@ Gillena: I am afraid life writes a sequel soon.

Thanks a lot, Laure: you're right. (And sorry for not noticing your comment. I thought I did the fifth.)

Best wishes

I like the way this starts by suggesting haiku is not appropriate, but ending by showing it is.

Thanks, Jem. This one is a very important one for me.
